I, Akshay Modi, am pursuing Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai, India, under the esteemed supervision of Prof. Jayesh Bellare, on the development of new hollow fiber membrane materials and manufacturing technology to make modules for separation of fluids of biological, clinical and technological importance.

I've completed Master of Technology in Chemical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India. My thesis dissertation was on "Nitrogen-doped carbon nanofibers for environmental remediation and energy applications". I have worked as a Teaching Assistant at Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Kanpur. I completed Bachelor in Technology in Chemical Engineering from National Institute of Technology Srinagar, Hazratbal, Srinagar, India and was awarded Gold Medal for being the topper of Chemical Engineering Branch, Batch 2009 at Convocation'13. My final year project was "Degradation of Dye by Nanoparticles". I did intern on a project titled “Mathematical and kinetic modeling of a biofilm reactor involved in the treatment of industrial wastewater” under the guidance of Dr. Ch. Venkateswarlu (Ex-director grade Scientist), Department of Chemical Engineering and Sciences, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad, India. I actively participated in various extra-curricular activities at NIT Srinagar and IIT Kanpur, India.

My research areas include membrane technology, carbon nanomaterials, biomedical engineering, environmental remediation, energy devices, nanotechnology, and adsorption.
