The focus of my PhD work is broadly on the development of novel nanomaterials for the therapy and diagnosis of diseases at early stage. Research experience - Designed and initiated several projects - Designed and fine-tuned the properties of hafnium oxide and carbon dot nanoparticles - Developed strategy to stratify the patients with the harmful microbiome using conventional tools in the clinic - Used molecularly targeted approach to segregate the harmful bacteria in a pool of pathogens and non-pathogens - Utilized nanoparticles alongside with an emerging computed tomography tools to identify bone complications in animals. - Established new nanoparticle constructs for cancer therapy in animal models - Implemented characterizations and experimentations in a broad areas of research areas from materials science to imaging, molecular biology, cell biology and animal science. - Actively published in well-respected journals in the field (>20 papers and a book chapter during PhD, ~180 citations, H index: 9 with more pending works) - Filed a US provisional patent and a UIUC disclosure Mentoring - Actively instructed undergraduates (8 students) and participated in university wide mentorship programs - Trained graduate level students in MEng program and BioE PhD program - Taught mini courses as invited speaker and panelist on the graduate level Other - Received multiple fellowships and awards - Assisted in the preparation of grant proposal for NIH and acted as a Co-PI in a Carle Illinois Collaborative Research Seed Grant Award, $43K - Acted as one the main reviewers for papers in peer reviewed journals such as scientific reports, IEEE sensors, carbohydrate polymers - Presented work in major annual conferences - Chaired session in AIChe regional conference - Judged in undergrad research symposium - Assisted to initiate collaboration between UIUC and New Zealand potentially leading to the purchase of new imaging instrument
