The rapid development of new energy automobiles leads to an increasing demand for high strength lithium battery shell alloy. The microstructures and tensile mechanical properties of CeLa-containing Al-Cu-Mn-Mg-Fe alloys were investigated with scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction, Eddy Current conductivity tester and tensile testing (from -40 °C to 300 °C). Experimental results indicate that Al6(Mn, Fe) particles could be refined by CeLa microalloying as AlCuCeLa phase nucleated and grew up at the surface of Al6(Mn, Fe) particle. Recrystallization texture Goss was the major texture for the CeLa-free alloy, while the rolling texture Brass was the main texture for the CeLa-containing alloys. The solid solubility increased with increase of the CeLa content. CeLa addition could greatly enhance the tensile strength of the alloy at temperatures ranging from -40 °C to 300 °C. Compared to the CeLa-free alloy, yielding strength and tensile strength of the alloy with 0.25 % CeLa increased by 17.54 %, and 20.97 % at 100 °C.
